My parents used to buy spanish bread regularly for us when we were kids. It really is just called “Spanish bread” at home, and everyone knows what it is. We were a colony of Spain for hundreds of years so it made sense in my head. 🥹
In my 5 years in Melbourne, I’ve found this sold in three places:
- a Pinoy bakery somewhere in a western suburb where Sarah and Adam used to live
- the Korean grocery in Glen Waverly who stocked this for some reason lol
- the Pinoy grocery in Cranbourne North
I always heat it up in the microwave for about ten seconds to soften the bread and let the honey/sugar melt a little.
Each time I buy them I have NO REGRETS, they taste like childhood.
